Why should data scientists choose R?
Given the rise of Python in the field of machine learning, I get this question so often that a new section of the book has been devoted to answering this in detail! The short answer is that R may provide the most gentle path to getting started as a machine learning practitioner, particularly for those without any formal programming experience. Tools like RStudio and the Tidyverse suite of packages also help make R a pleasure to work with on a daily basis. Of course, whether you remain with R for the long term, apply it side by side with Python, or graduate to something else altogether, the principles you learn in Machine Learning with R will transfer to whatever tools you use in the future.
